Brief History About the Directorate

In 2015, under a resolution of Council, the Division of Public Affairs was restructured and converted into a Directorate headed by a Director, who reports to the Registrar. The then four (4) sections were reduced to three (3) namely Public Relations and Protocol Section, Documentation and Information Section and ATL FM restructured as Campus Broadcasting Services). The Alumni Relations Section was moved to the Institutional Advancement Office under the Office of the Vice Chancellor. The DPA’s role is to manage the University’s protocol, organize official functions, document its history and create a positive visibility for the institution and be the spokesperson, among others.

The DPA primarily exists to manage the corporate image of the institution (UCC). It is responsible for managing information flow within the University, promoting good rapport and understanding among the various publics of the University and ensures that the University enjoys a positive image in the comity of tertiary institutions within the country and beyond.

The Directorate of Public Affairs is responsible for building and maintaining the University’s corporate image and relationship with key publics, managing events and communicating with the University’s stakeholders. It is in line with this mandate that the Directorate has set for itself, clear lines of achieving these goals by developing for itself, a Corporate Strategy.
